Health Directions Network offers the following
activities for a range of different clients

Working with local people & communities

We aim for ways of working that generate engagement by all involved and acknowledge power and identity differences such as gender, ethnicity and class.
To do this we often draw on the work of Axelrod on the principles of engagement:
* Widen the circle
* Connect people and ideas
* Build communities for action
* Embrace democratic principles

Research & Inquiry

Inquiry projects capture what is happening and shows the gaps in what we know. We have undertaken inquiry projects for a number of organisations. Inquiry provides a different space: there are few opportunities in the rush of events to look at what is going well and what problems people are facing. This process helps people who are involved together to look into good practice as well as explore dilemmas and problems, and to inquire into joint solutions. Inquiry captures what is happening and shows the gaps in what we know. It generates evidence from stories: it is a form of research as well as a method of change. It allows us to explore many perspectives particularly those of users, and in doing this it may challenge our assumptions.
It can be a creative and dynamic way of contributing to particular challenges, particularly those which require boundaries to be crossed.
